CAPF AC Vacancies and Notification 2021

UPSC – CAPF Exam

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is ready to conduct the CAPF AC exam to recruit deserving candidates for the post of Assistant Commandant (AC). The Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) consists of seven forces, namely, Assam Rifles (AR), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Border Security Force (BSF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), National Security Guard (NSG), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). 

There are a total of 209 vacancies for Assistant Commandants (ACs) Posts in the Central Armed Police Forces. Candidates who meet the eligibility criteria set by the Commission can apply for the CAPF exam 2021. The notification for CAPF AC was released on 15th April 2021. The last date to apply was 5th May 2021. The exam will take place on 8th August 2021. The admit cards will be released in the month of July. The results will be out in September 2021. 

Eligibility Criteria

There are several eligibility criteria that a candidate must fulfil in order to apply for the CAPF AC exam 2021. The candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized university/institution. Both male and female candidates are eligible to apply. He/she should be between 20 to 25 years of age i.e. must have been born between 2 August 1996 and 1 August 2001. Age relaxation of five years is given to Scheduled Caste or Scheduled Tribe candidates, Civilian Central Government Servants and people who domiciled in the State of Jammu & Kashmir during the period from 1 January 1980 to 31 December 1989. There is three year age relaxation for Other Backward Classes. Indian, Nepalese and Tibetan candidates can apply for the CAPF AC 2021 Exam. 

Selection Procedure

The CAPF AC selection process includes three steps:

  1. CAPF Written Exam (Objective and Subjective)
  2. Physical Efficiency Test and Medical Standards Test
  3. Interview or Personality Test

The written exam has two papers, Paper 1 of General Ability and Intelligence which will be of Objective Type and candidates will get 2 hours to complete this 250 marks paper. Paper 2 will be of General Studies, Essay and Comprehension which will be Subjective in nature and candidates will get 3 hours to complete this 200 marks paper. There will be one-third negative marking for every wrong answer. 

The General Ability and Intelligence paper will have questions from General Science (including environmental Science), Indian Politics, Indian Economy, Indian History (including growth and freedom movements), Geographical Aspects, General Mental Ability (reasoning, quantitative aptitude, data interpretation), and National and International Current Affairs. The General Studies, Essay and Comprehension will have questions from Long narrative Essay, Comprehension and language skills.
