UP Sainik School Notification 2024-25

Captain Manoj Kumar Pandey U P Sainik School, Lucknow, and newly constructed U P Sainik School, Gorakhpur run under the aegis of U P Sainik Schools Society in the chairmanship of Chief
Minister of UP. The purpose of these special institutions of Govt of UP is to impart military-oriented training to prepare the selected students of Uttar Pradesh for a career in the officers’ cadre of the Indian Armed Forces through the National Defence Academy (NDA). Captain Manoj Kumar Pandey U P Sainik School, Lucknow is affiliated with the CBSE, New Delhi, and the newly constructed UP Sainik School Gorakhpur will affiliate with CBSE New Delhi by the start of the academic session 2024-25. Both are English-medium residential schools. Eligibility

For admission to UP Sainik School, candidates must fulfill the following eligibility criteria:

(i)Domicile: The applicant and Father of the applicant must be a domicile of UP.

(ii)Date of Birth: Applications are invited from applicants born between the dates given for the academic session 2024-25, for appearing in Captain Manoj Kumar Pandey UP Sainik School Entrance Examination to be held on 24 Dec 2023:-
(a) For Class VI: 02 July 2012 to 01 January 2015 (both dates inclusive)
(b) For Class IX: 02 July 2009 to 01 January 2012 (both dates inclusive)
(iii) Applicants can appear in the exam as per the following details:
U P Sainik School, Lucknow – Class 6 (Only Boys are eligible), Class 9 (Boys & Girls both are eligible)
U P Sainik School, Gorakhpur – Class 6 (Boys & Girls both are eligible), Class 9 (Boys & Girls both are eligible)
(iv) Must have passed classes V and VIII for admission in class VI and IX respectively by 20 May 2024 from a recognized school.

Reservation of Seats:

Out of the total vacancies, 27 % of the seats are reserved for OBC, 21 % for SC, 02% for ST, and 10 % for EWS-GEN category. There is only SELF FINANCE SEAT for Class IX Boys’ applicant for UP Sainik School, Lucknow. Vimukt Jati will not be considered in the ST category.

Important Timelines Related to UP Sainik School Notification 2024-25

Application Fee

The application fee is Rs. 1000. The fee payable after the last date is Rs. 2000 (including the late fee).

Examination Centres

Agra, Ayodhya, Bareilly, Gorakhpur, Jhansi, Meerut, Prayagraj, Varanasi and Lucknow. The applicant appearing for the examination may opt for a maximum of three centers, out of which one may be granted by the school administration.

Steps to Submit Online Application

Before starting to submit the online application, candidates must ensure a valid e-mail ID and mobile number. The steps to submit the online application are:

• STEP 1: ONLINE REGISTRATION – On successful registration, the Applicant will get the Username and password for logging into their dashboard for further steps.
• STEP 2: APPLICATION FORM – Fill the Application Form. All fields should be filled or selected very carefully. Fields having * marks are mandatory. Applicant can edit his/her application any number of times before the successful payment.
• STEP 3: ONLINE PAYMENT – Make Payment. Please recheck your Application form details carefully because, after Fee payment, the applicant can’t edit his/her application form in any way.
• STEP 4: PRINT APPLICATION FORM – Applicant must take the printout of the application form and keep it safe for future reference.
• STEP 5: CORRECTION WINDOW – The correction window will open from 08 Nov 2023 to 10 Nov 2023 (1700 Hrs). Applicants can edit the details in the Application form except Name, Class, Mobile No, and E-mail ID.
• STEP 6: PRINT ADMIT CARD – Admit Card will be generated after 10th Dec 2023.
• STEP 7: RESULTS – Applicants can check their Entrance Exam Results.Documents required at the time of the interview

The following documents/certificates are to be brought in original and one photocopy for verification at the time of the Interview:

(a) Domicile certificate of applicant issued by the Competent Authority.
(b) Caste certificate of the applicant (SC/ST/OBC/EWS-GEN) issued by the competent authority.
(c) Birth Certificate of applicant issued by competent authority.

Documents required at the time of admission

The following documents/certificates are to be submitted at the time of ADMISSION:

(a) Transfer Certificate from the school last attended duly countersigned by the District Inspector of school/BSA in original.
(b) Domicile certificate of applicant issued by the competent authority in original and self-attested copy.
(c) Caste certificate of the applicant (SC/ST/OBC/EWS-GEN) issued by the competent authority in original and self-attested copy.
(d) Agreement bond on Rs.100/- non judicial stamp.
(e) Affidavit on Rs.10/- non-judicial stamp regarding Anti-ragging and domicile.
(f) Birth Certificate of applicant issued by Nagar Nigam/Nagar Palika/Zila Panchayat Adhikari in original and self-attested copy.
(g) Self-attested copy of the Aadhaar Card of the applicant.
(h) Mark sheet of class VI and VIII for admission in class VII and IX respectively in original.

About UP Sainik School

Sainik School, Lucknow was established in July 1960.  It was the first Sainik School in India. Later, other Sainik Schools were established under the Ministry of Defence, Government of India. Captain Manoj Kumar Pandey UP Sainik School is a co-educational school affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). The UP Sainik School Society manages and administers this institution. From the academic session 2024-25, UP Sainik School, Gorakhpur will also start functioning. Hence, there is a better opportunity for students to secure their seats in one of the two schools. These schools are fully financed and managed by the State Government.

History of UP Sainik School

Much before anyone in the country thought of setting up an institution as a pre-preparation for the National Defence Academy, Dr Sampurnanand, the then Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, had the vision of conceiving the idea. He observed that Uttar Pradesh, the most populous State of the Union, had a very poor representation in the officers’ cadre of the Armed forces. Thus, playing the role of a pioneer and a visionary leader, he established a school in Lucknow as early as 1960 to train selected state students for a career in the Officers’ cadre of the Defence Force of India through the National Defence Academy. Dr. Sampurnanand established Sainik School, Lucknow in July 1960 to fulfill his vision. The alumni of Sainik School, Lucknow Capt Manoj Pandey posthumously received the Param Vir Chakra. The school is now named Capt Manoj Kumar Pandey UP Sainik School.
