What is SSC CPO?

The Staff Selection Commission is a well-known board that recruits many aspirants who protect the nation internally. The board conducts the SSC CPO exam every year for posts such as Sub Inspector (SI) and Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) in Central Police Organizations (CPOs) like Delhi Police, Central Reserved Police Force, Central Armed Police Forces, Indo-Tibetan Border Police, Central Industrial Security Force, etc. In this article, we will discuss the SSC CPO exam pattern.

Exam Pattern

The SSC CPO exam pattern includes the following steps:

  • Written Examination – Paper I
  • Physical Standard Test / Physical Efficiency Examination (Qualifying in nature)
  • Written Examination – Paper II
  • Medical Examination Test
  • Document Verification
  • Final Selection

As you can see the SSC CPO exam has two written exams Paper-I and Paper-II. The duration of the exams is 2 hours. The questions will be of Objective Type. Paper-I will have questions from General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Knowledge and General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude and English Comprehension. While Paper-II will have questions from English language & Comprehension. There will be 200 questions in each paper and each question carries 1 mark.

The question paper will be in both Hindi as well as English language. For every wrong answer, 0.25 marks will be deducted. Each section in Paper-I will have 50 questions making it a total of 200  questions while Paper-II will have 200 questions from English. Good command of the English language is a must to clear this exam. Interested candidates must have a thorough knowledge of India and world Politics, General Knowledge, current affairs and Geography.

Physical Requirement

The Physical Measurements of the candidates will vary as per their geographical location, gender and category. While the Physical Endurance Test for male candidates includes 100 meters race in 16 seconds, 1.6 km race in 6.5 minutes, Long Jump: 3.65 metres in 3 chances, High Jump: 1.2 metres in 3 chances and Shot Put (16 Lbs): 4.5 metres in 3 chance. Female candidates will have to do 100 metres race in 18 seconds, 800 metres race in 4 minutes, Long Jump: 2.7 metres in 3 chances and a High Jump: 0.9 metres in 3 chances.

The eyesight has to be sound to get selected with a minimum Near Vision: N6 (better eye) and N9 (worse eye) and a minimum Distant Vision: 6/6 (better eye) and 6/9 (worse eye). Candidates must not have knock knee, flat foot, varicose vein or squint in eyes. The eye standards should be without visual correction of any kind even by glasses.

Any citizen of India / Nepal / Bhutan / a Tibetan refugee who came to India before June 1, 1962, can apply. The age limit is 20 to 25 years for general candidates. SC/ST candidates have an age relaxation of 5 years. OBC candidates have an age relaxation of 3 years while Ex-Servicemen have an age relaxation of 3 years. To know more visit: https://ssc.nic.in
