All about the SSC CPO Syllabus Paper I & II

To crack any exam, a thorough knowledge of its syllabus is a must. In fact, it is the first step towards preparation. The Staff Selection Commission’s SSC CPO exam is no different from this. This exam is conducted to recruit candidates for Sub Inspector (SI) and Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) in Central Police Organizations (CPOs) like Delhi Police, Central Reserved Police Force, Central Armed Police Forces, Indo-Tibetan Border Police, Central Industrial Security Force, etc. In this article, we will discuss the SSC CPO syllabus.

Pattern of Examination

Before, jumping on the SSC CPO syllabus, we must take a look at its exam pattern which includes the following steps:

  1. Written Examination – Paper I
  2. Physical Standard Test / Physical Efficiency Examination (Qualifying in nature)
  3. Written Examination – Paper II
  4. Medical Examination Test
  5. Document Verification
  6. Final Selection

As you can see, the SSC CPO has two written exams Paper-I and Paper-II. The duration of the exams is 2 hours. The questions will be of Objective Type.

SSC CPO Syllabus- Paper I

Paper I is divided into four sections i.e, General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Knowledge and General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude and English Comprehension. There will be 50 questions asked from each section making it a total of 200 marks. The topics one should cover from the General Intelligence and Reasoning section are Verbal Reasoning, Syllogism, Circular Seating Arrangement, Linear Seating Arrangement, Double Lineup, Scheduling, Input-Output, Blood Relations etc. From General Knowledge and General Awareness topics such as History, Geography, Economics, Culture, General Polity,  Indian Constitution, Science and Technology, Sports and Games, Questions Relating to India and its Neighboring Countries and Current Affairs are important. 

From the Quantitative Aptitude section questions from Simplification, Percentage, Average, Simple and Compound Interest, Ratio and Proportion, Square Roots, Surds, Profit and Loss, Time and Distance, Time and Work, Partnership, Mixture and Alligation and Graphs of Linear Equations will be asked. Questions from Basic Comprehension and Writing Ability will be asked from the English Section. 

SSC CPO Syllabus- Paper II

Paper-II of the SSC CPO exam is entirely dedicated to English as it checks a candidate’s knowledge of the English Language and Comprehension Ability. Questions from Error Spotting, Vocabulary – Antonyms and Synonyms, Spellings, Fill in the Gaps, Cloze Tests, Sentence Structure – Subject Verb Agreement, Phrases and Idioms, Sentence Completion, Basic English Grammar – Parts of Speech, Voice Change, Direct and Indirect Speech, etc. and Comprehension Reading will be asked.
