About Indian Navy

The naval branch of the Indian Armed Forces is the Indian Navy. The honorable President of India is the Supreme Commander of the Indian Navy. The main objective of the navy is to protect the nation’s maritime borders. The Indian Navy consists of approximately 67000 active personnel and 75000 reserve personnel. To further strengthen its forces, the Indian navy has released a vacancy notification for 1400 posts of SSR (Senior Secondary Recruit). Who is eligible?

  • Educational Qualification for SSR – Candidates must qualify in the 10+2 examination from a recognized board with Maths, Physics, and Chemistry/Biology/Computer Science as subjects.
  • Age Criteria – Candidates must be born between 01 May 2002 – 31 Oct 2005 (both dates inclusive).

How to apply and essential timelines for Navy SSR Vacancy Released

To apply for this vacancy, candidates have to apply online using the official website of the Indian Navy http://www.joinindiannavy.gov.in/

Online applications are open from 08 December 2022 to 17 December 2022. There is a very short application window, hence don’t wait for the last date. Fill out your application early to avoid last-minute rush and server problems. Offline application is not acceptable at all.

Selection Procedure

Candidates have to go through the following stages of the recruitment procedure:

  1. Shortlisting of candidates: The candidates are shortlisted on the basis of the All India computer-based examination- INET. Shortlisting is based on marks obtained in the Indian Navy Entrance Test. Candidates are shortlisted in a state-wise manner. The cut-off marks for shortlisting for the next stage of the selection process may vary from state to state as vacancies are allocated in a state-wise manner.
  2. Written Test: Shortlisted candidates need to appear for the written examination.
  3. Physical Fitness Test – Candidates clearing the written test need to go through the Physical Fitness Test (PFT). The PFT consists of a 1600 m run that a candidate needs to complete in 6 minutes and 30 seconds, immediately followed by 20 squats and 10 push-ups. For female candidates, the PFT consists of a 1600 m run in 8 minutes immediately followed by 15 squats and 10 bent knee sit-ups.
  4. Merit List: The merit list is prepared on the basis of performance in the written examination provided that the candidate passes the Physical Fitness Test.

The pattern of Written Examination

The computer-based examination is a one-hour duration test consisting of 100 questions, each carrying one mark. There are four sections in it, namely, English, Science, Mathematics, and General Awareness. The question paper is bilingual (Hindi & English) and objective type (multiple-choice) paper. The standard of the question paper is that of 10+2. The candidates need to pass in all sections as well as in aggregate. For each incorrect answer, candidates lose one-fourth (0.25) mark as a penalty.

Covid Guidelines

  1. Given the risk of COVID-19, candidates must follow all instructions/guidelines issued by central/ state governments from time to time.
  2. At the entrance, if any candidate shows symptoms of influenza-like illness (ILI), the authorities will not allow him/her for the tests considering the safety of other persons.
