What is the Indian Coast Guard?
The Indian Coast Guard was established on 18 August 1978 by the Coast Guard Act, 1978 of the Parliament of India. It operates under the Ministry of Defence. The Coast Guard functions in close synchronization with the Indian Navy. It conducts operations at sea. The Coast Guard ships and aircraft keep a close eye on the Eastern and Western seashores.
