Requisite Qualities

To live up to the expectations of the force a candidate must possess the following qualities.

  • Understanding of Human Nature: Human nature is always changing and hence it is impossible to read a human being accurately. But, an Officer must understand basic human nature and try to observe his subordinates accordingly. It is a foremost step towards good leadership.
  • Delegation of Responsibilities: It is a must-have quality to clear AFCAT. A good Officer should delegate the duties and responsibilities among his subordinates equally. He can not do all the tasks himself, hence putting everyone at work is a smart way to complete a task.
  • Liveliness: People tend to connect more with a fun-loving boss than the gloomy one. Hence, a bit of liveliness is important to keep everyone calm and happy in the workplace.
  • Integrity and Loyalty: An officer must be loyal and integrated towards his country and his troop. He must never in any circumstances do anything that put his country or troop in a debatable position.
  • Selflessness: An Officer must think about his country and his troop. He must do his job selflessly to provide security to the nation.
  •  Effective Intelligence: It is the potential of a candidate to tackle practical problems. An officer must find solutions without losing his calm. This way his subordinates will always look up to him in the hour of need.
  • Knowledge: A person can never know everything and once you clear AFCAT you will know new things every day. But, an officer must have a sound knowledge of his field and if not then he must be ready to learn.
