All About UPSC – CAPF
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts the CAPF exam to recruit deserving candidates for the posts of Assistant Commandant (AC), Sub- Inspector and Constable. The Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) consists of seven forces. They are Assam Rifles (AR), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Border Security Force (BSF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), National Security Guard (NSG), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). The preparation for CAPF needs strategic study and hard work as it is a tough nut to crack.
The CAPF exams consist of a written examination, physical fitness test, medical test and personal interview. The CAPF written exam has two papers. Paper-I is that of General Ability and Intelligence.
Paper-II for CAPF is that of General Studies, Essay and Comprehension. The preparation for CAPF Paper- I needs a good knowledge of general ability, current affairs, General Science, History, Geography, Politics and Economy of India.
How to Prepare for CAPF Paper – I
To crack CAPF Paper I, practice quantitative aptitude and logical reasoning daily, with more stress on numerical ability and data interpretation. Clear all the mathematics concepts such as profit and loss, time and distance, analogy, graphs, pi-charts, mathematical tables etc. To brush up current affairs, read newspapers and all the leading dailies like The Hindu, Indian Express, The Times of India. Focus on All India Radio (AIR) news analysis, Lok Sabha TV and Rajya Sabha TV debate etc. Clear the concepts of basic Physics, Biology and Chemistry. Read all the NCERT books.
Follow the flow of history to know the chronology of all the important events and memorize them. Focus on the freedom movement and the social and economic changes in India. Focus on events of geographical disaster, global warming, the latest treaties, climate change, etc. Memorize the political constitution of India, national and international threats, the public works undertook, the dialogues that are going on, different business policies, the role of the Reserve Bank of India etc. Make notes on the current affairs related to polity and international relationships. Keep creating notes on current affairs related to economical growth, downfalls etc. Correlate economic events with polity and geography for better learning.
How to Prepare for CAPF Paper – II
CAPF preparation for Paper-II needs a good command over English. Brush up all the rules of English Grammar. Keep practising the topics of essay related to history, geography, economy, contemporary issues, and polity of India. Practice comprehension and brush up your language skills. Keep practising precis writing.
