How to crack the CAPF AC Exam?

What is UPSC CAPF?

The Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) consists of seven security forces falling under the Ministry of Home Affairs. The CAPF AC is a gazetted post, and it serves in all the seven forces i.e. Assam Rifles (AR), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Border Security Force (BSF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), National Security Guard (NSG), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). 

Any interested Indian, Nepalese and Bhutani male or female candidate aged between 20 to 25 years can apply for this post. A candidate must have a Bachelor’s Degree. 

Stages of Recruitment

CAPF AC recruitment takes place in different stages:

(i) Written Examination:

The written exam for CAPF AC is conducted by The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). The written exam comprises of two papers. 

Paper-I is that of General Ability and Intelligence. This paper will be an objective type, and the questions will be asked in Hindi and English. The weightage for this paper is 250 marks. 

The sections covered in this paper are General Science topics like Information Technology, Biotechnology, Environmental Science, Current Events of National and International Importance such as culture, music, arts, literature, sports, governance, societal and developmental issues, industry, the interplay among nations, Indian Polity and Economy, Country’s political system and the Constitution of India, Social systems and public administration, economic development in India, regional and international security issues and human rights including its indicators, History of India, and Indian and World Geography. 

Paper-II for CAPF AC is that of General Studies, Essay and Comprehension. The candidates can write the Essay Component in English or Hindi. The weightage given to this section is 80 marks. The medium for Precis Writing, Comprehension Components, and other communications/language skills will be English only. The weightage of this section is 120 marks. The weightage for both the sections combined is 200 marks. 

(ii) Physical Standards/Physically Efficiency Test and Medical Standard Tests:

In this test, the candidates will have to go through 100 Meters Race, 800 Meters Race, Long Jump and Shot Put (7.26 Kgs). The total time limit and distance for male and female candidates to qualify are different. 

Pregnant female candidates will be disqualified in the Medical Test. 

(iii) Interview/Personality Test: The candidates who have passed the written and medical test will be called for a personal interview. The UPSC conducts the interview and it carries 150 marks. 

(iv) Final Selection/Merit: The board will then make a merit list based on the marks obtained by the candidates in the Written Examination and Interview/Personality Test.
