About UP Sainik School

Sainik School, Lucknow was established in July 1960.  It was the first Sainik School in India. Later, other Sainik Schools were established under the Ministry of Defence, Government of India. Captain Manoj Kumar Pandey UP Sainik School is a co-educational school affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). History of UP Sainik School

Much before anyone in the country thought of setting up an institution as a pre-preparation for the National Defence Academy, Dr. Sampurnanand, the then Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, had the vision of conceiving the idea. He observed that Uttar Pradesh, the most populous State of the Union, had a very poor representation in the officers’ cadre of the Armed forces. Thus, playing the role of a pioneer and a visionary leader, he established a school in Lucknow as early as 1960 to train selected students of the state for a career in the Officers’ cadre of the defence force of India through the National Defence Academy.

Management of UP Sainik School

To fulfill his vision Dr. Sampurnanand established Sainik School, Lucknow in July 1960. The alumni of Sainik School, Lucknow Capt Manoj Pandey posthumously received the Param Vir Chakra. The school is now named Capt Manoj Kumar Pandey UP Sainik School. The Government of Uttar Pradesh subsidizes education at UP Sainik School. The Uttar Pradesh Sainik Schools Society runs this school. The Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh is its Chairperson. It is a registered society under the Indian Societies Registration Act (1860). It is the only Sainik school that is completely financed and managed by the State Government. The school is located in a sprawling area of approximately 250 acres in Sarojini Nagar, on the Lucknow-Kanpur road at a distance of nearly 12 km from Lucknow Railway Station and 03 km from Choudhary Charan Singh Airport.

Eligibility

For admission to UP Sainik School, candidates must fulfill the following eligibility criteria:

Domicile: Father of the candidate must be a domicile of UP.

Date of Birth: The date of birth required is

• For Class VI (Only Male): 02 July 2011 to 01 January 2014 (both dates inclusive)
• For admission to Class VII (Only Male): 02 July 2010 to 01 January 2013 (both dates inclusive)
• To enroll in Class IX (Male & Female): 02 July 2008 to 01 January 2011 (both dates inclusive)

Educational Qualification:

Must have passed class V, VI, and VIII for admission in class VI, VII, and IX respectively by 20 May 2023 from a recognized school.

Note: Admission to classes VI & VII is open for male candidates (boys) only and for Class IX, admission is open for both male & female candidates (Boys and girls).

The application fee is Rs. 1000. The fee payable after the last date is Rs. 2000 (including the late fee).

Steps to submit online Application

Before starting to submit the online application, candidates must ensure a valid e-mail id and mobile number. The steps to submit the online application are:

1. Registration: Candidates must first register and generate a login id and password.
2. Fill out the application form: Use the id and password to log in and fill out the application form. The filling application form includes entering personal details as well as uploading documents i.e. photographs and signatures.
3. Payment: The last step is to pay the application fee.

The following documents are required in original as well as one photocopy for verification:

• Domicile certificate of the candidate issued by the Competent Authority.
• Caste certificate of the candidate (SC/ST/OBC/EWS-GEN) issued by the competent authority.
• Birth certificate of the candidate issued by Nagar Nigam/Nagar Palika/Zila Panchayat Adhikari.

Documents required at the time of admission

The following documents are required at the time of admission:

• Transfer Certificate from the school last attended duly countersigned by the District Inspector of school/BSA in the original.
• Domicile certificate of the candidate issued by the competent authority in original and self-attested copy.
• Caste certificate of candidate (SC/ST/OBC/EWS-GEN) issued by the competent authority in original and self-attested copy.
• Agreement bond on Rs.100/- non-judicial stamp.
• Affidavit on Rs.10/- non-judicial stamp regarding anti-ragging and domicile.
• Birth Certificate of applicant issued by Nagar Nigam/Nagar Palika/Zila Panchayat Adhikari in original and self-attested copy.
• Self-attested copy of the Aadhar Card of the candidate if available.
• Mark sheet of class VI and VIII for admission in class VII and IX respectively in original.
