About Rashtriya Military Schools

Rashtriya Military Schools are schools falling directly under the Indian Army. These schools provide first-class education to the sons of defence personnel and civilians alike. These schools are popularly known as Military Schools. King George established the first Military School in Chail, Himachal Pradesh. It was initially known as King George’s Royal Military College. Later four more military schools came into existence. They are RMS Bangalore, RMS Belgaum, RMS Dholpur and RMS Ajmer. These schools prepare young boys for the National Defence Academy (NDA) and Naval Academy (NA). Rashtriya Military Schools give admission to eligible boys for class VI and IX through a Common Entrance Test (CET) and class XI through the board result of class X. The RMS Entrance Exam Pattern for Class IX consists of five subjects/sections. They are Mathematics, Hindi, English, Social Science and Science.

Exam Pattern

Each section has a weightage of 100 marks making it a total of 500 marks. The minimum percentage to qualify each section is 50%.

Syllabus – Maths

The military school entrance exam course for mathematics includes topics such as Roman numeration and Rounding off numbers, Comparison of numbers, Greatest and smallest numbers, Unitary Method, Ratio and Proportion, Time, Work, Distance and Displacement, Lowest form and equivalent, Profit and loss based problems, Circle and its parts, Basic geometrical concepts such as point, line, line segment, Classification of angles, angles, triangles, circles etc.

Syllabus – Language

The language section of RMS Entrance Exam Pattern for Class IX has questions from Hindi as well as English. The topics included in the English section are Grammatical Structure, Comprehension & passages, Antonyms, Synonyms, Vocabulary, Prepositions, Composition, Homonyms, Framing Questions, Articles etc. The Hindi section includes भाषिक अनुप्रयोग और व्याकरणिक कुशलताए, अपठित बोधात्मक प्रश्न, वर्ण विचार / वर्तनी विवेक, शब्दभेद (स्त्रोत / उत्पत्ति), लोकोक्ति, पद परिचय, पर्याय/विलाम, मुहावरा etc.

Syllabus – Science

The Science section consists of topics like Reproduction, Food, Chemical Effects of Electrical Current, Electroplating, Solar System, Natural Phenomena, Energy, Light, Living /Non Living Materials etc.

Syllabus – Social Science

The Social Science section of RMS Entrance Exam Pattern for Class IX  includes topics such as Modern Indian History, British Raj, Indian Independence, Tribals and Dikus, Women, Caste and Reform, India After Independence, The Indian Constitution and Secularism, The Judiciary, Parliament and The Making of Laws, Resources, Land, Soil, Water, Natural Vegetation, Agriculture, Human Resources etc.

Aspirants ought to score well in order to pass the Common Entrance Test. The questions will be based on OMR (Optical Mark Reader) sheet. The candidates who pass the written exam have to go through an interview that has a weightage of 50 marks. Then after which the final merit list will be released.
