JNV – Chain of Schools for Rural Children
The Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya is a well-known chain of schools that are spread all over the country. Many rural children who desire to get a good education see the dream of getting into one. However only a few can make a great career for themselves. Out of all the three sections of the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya entrance exam, the mental ability section is the most scoring. In this article, we will discuss the right approach to crack this section.
Approach Towards Mental Ability Section
Questions in this section are based on figures and diagrams. These questions check the general mental functioning of the candidates. This section consists of ten types of questions and section has 5 questions each.
- ODD-ONE OUT: Questions 1 to 5 – four figures are given in every question. Out of these figures, three figures are similar and one figure is different. You have to identify the different figure.
- FIGURE MATCHING: Questions 6 to 10 – a problem figure is drawn on the left side and four answer figures are drawn on the right. You have to select the answer figure which is the same as the problem figure.
- PATTERN COMPLETION: Questions 11 to 15- a problem figure is drawn on the left-hand side whose part is missing. Observe the answer figures drawn on the right side and find out the answer figure which fits in the missing part to complete the pattern.
- FIGURE SERIES COMPLETION: Questions 16 to 20- Three problem figures drawn on the left side and the space for the last figure is left blank. Find out the correct figure among the answer figures drawn on the right side to completes the series.
- ANALOGY: Questions 21 to 25- Two sets of two problem figures each is drawn. The second set has a question mark. There is a connection between the first two problem figures. A similar connection should exist between the third and fourth problem figures. Select the correct answer and replace the question mark.
- Geometrical Figure Completion: Questions 26 to 30- one part of a square question figure is on the left side and another is among the four answer figures drawn on the right side. Find out the correct figure.
- MIRROR IMAGING: Questions 31 to 35- a problem figure on the left side and four answer figures drawn on the right side. Select the mirror image of the problem figure from answer figures.
- PUNCHED FOLD PATTERN: Question 36 to 40- a piece of paper is folded and punched in a problem figure on the left side and four answer figures are drawn on the right side. Select the answer figure indicating how the paper will look when opened.
- SPACE VISUALISATION: Questions 41 to 45- a problem figure is drawn on the left side and four answer figures are drawn on the right side. Select the answer figure from the cut-off pieces drawn in the problem figure.
- EMBEDDED FIGURE: Questions 46 to 50- a problem figure is drawn on the left side and four answer figures are drawn on the right side. Select the answer figure in which the problem figure is hidden.
