Selection Process

The Indian army selection process has several important and unavoidable steps and those are:

  • Look for notifications: A candidate who wishes to apply for the Indian army exams such as NDA, CDS etc must check the official website for the related notifications. Most of the army exams are conducted twice a year, giving aspirants much time to prepare.
  • Check Eligibility: Another crucial step of the Indian army selection process is to check the eligibility for the post you want to apply for. Every post asks for different age and qualifications  and it is important to know them before starting to prepare for the exam.
  • Apply Online: Then the aspirants ought to apply online for the exam. They have to fill the form correctly and attach all the documents asked like signature, picture, mark sheets etc. Once a candidate fills the application form, he is allotted an exam centre. His admit card is sent through email 15 days before the exam.
  • The Written Test: In this part, a candidate’s academic knowledge is tested. In exams such as one for the National Defence Academy, questions from Mathematics, English and General Knowledge are asked. In some exams, only English and General Knowledge play a vital role. Every exam has different passing criteria and syllabus. Candidates must check the syllabus carefully and start preparing accordingly.
  • SSB Interview: The Services Selection Board is a five-day-long interview. The candidates who manage to pass the Written Exam are called for the SSB interview. A candidate’s Intelligence and Personality are tested in this interview. Many tasks and group discussions are held during this stage of the Indian army selection process. Only the best ones’ are selected at this stage.
  • Medical Examination: Candidates who pass the SSB interview then have to pass a full-body medical examination. In some exams, the medical examination takes place before the SSB interview. All in all, it is a crucial part of the selection process.
