What is the Indian Coast Guard?

The Indian Coast Guard was established on 18 August 1978 by the Coast Guard Act, 1978 of the Parliament of India. It operates under the Ministry of Defence. The Coast Guard functions in close synchronization with the Indian Navy. It conducts operations at sea. The Coast Guard ships and aircraft keep a close eye on the Eastern and Western seashores. There are multiple posts in the Indian Coast Guard like  DB, GD & Yantrik.

Pattern (Scheme) of Examination:

The written examination for the posts of Indian Coast Guard GD, DB & Yantrik consists of the following sections:

Navik DB Section I
Navik GD Section I + II
Yantrik (Electrical) Section I + III
Yantrik (Electronics) Section I + IV
Yantrik (Mechanical) Section I + V

The section-wise pattern and details are as follows:

Section I Max. Marks – 60, Time – 45 minutes, Total no. of Questions – 60 Maths – 20, Science – 10

English – 15, Reasoning–10

GK – 5

Section  II Max. Marks – 50, Time – 30 minutes, Total no. of Questions – 50 Maths – 25

Physics– 25

Section  III Max. Marks – 50, Time – 30 minutes, Total no. of Questions –  50 Electrical Engineering – 50
Section  IV Max. Marks – 50, Time – 30 minutes Total no. of Questions – 50 Electronics Engineering – 50
Section  V Max. Marks – 50, Time – 30 minutes Total no. of Questions – 50 Mechanical Engineering – 50
