The Indian Army
The Indian Army is the land-based branch and the largest component of the Indian Armed Forces. The President of India is the Supreme Commander of the Indian Army. Its professional head is the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), who is a four-star general. The main mission of the Indian Army is to ensure national security and unity, defend the nation from external aggression and internal threats, and maintain peace and security within its borders. The Indian Army is operationally and geographically divided into seven commands. It is the largest standing army in the world. In this post, we discuss the Agniveer Rally Schedule, Uttarakhand.
Agnipath Scheme
The three military services, namely the Army, Air Force, and Navy, have undergone a revolutionary change in the recruitment system. The Government has rolled out a new model for recruitment in the Indian Armed Forces which is termed the Tour of Duty or the Agnipath Scheme. Under this recruitment model, personnel recruited in Indian Armed Forces will be called Agniveers. Agneepath Yojana or Agnipath Recruitment Scheme is a revolutionary initiative by the Government of India, wherein youths of 17 and a half years to 21 years will serve the country by joining the Armed Forces for 4 years through a transparent process.
On completion of the service period, they will receive a tax-free service fund package of Rs. 11.71 lakh to make them financially secure. Recruitment in all three services, namely, Army, Navy, and Air Force, will only be through the ToD route. The four-year tenure will include six months of training and three and half years of service.
The Indian Army has released a zone-wise tentative rally schedule for recruitment of Agniveers for recruiting year 2022-23.
