The Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) is conducted twice a year by the Indian Air Force to recruit deserving candidates. The exam is conducted every year in February and August/September, respectively, to recruit Class-I Gazetted Officers in Flying and Ground Duties (Technical and Non-Technical) of the Air Force of India. AFCAT is a door of opportunities for the candidates who wish to serve in the Short Service Commission in Flying Branch and Permanent Commission/Short Service Commission in Ground Duties both Technical and Non- Technical branches. Air Force is full of budding opportunities for every interested candidate. The AFCAT question paper consists of questions from General Awareness; major topics to cover in this section are History, Sports, Geography, Art and Culture, current affairs, Politics, Civics, Environment, Defense, Basic Science etc. The English section consists of questions from Comprehension, Basic Grammar, Fill in the blanks by choosing the appropriate word, Tenses, Error Detection, Sentence Completion, Synonyms and Antonyms, Testing of Vocabulary etc.

The AFCAT question paper has questions from numerical ability section that need special focus on Decimal and Fraction, Simple Interest & Compound Interest, Time & Distance (Trains/Boats & Streams), Percentage, Ratio & Proportion, Time and Work, Average, Profit & Loss etc.

The Reasoning and Military Aptitude Test consists of questions from Odd One Out, Analogy, Venn Diagram, Pattern Completion, Dot Situation Analysis, Blood Relation, Missing Figures, Figure Classification, Coding and Decoding, Spotting the Embedded Figures, Sequencing etc. The AFCAT Engineering Knowledge Test (EKT) exam has questions from five different branches of engineering AFCAT EKT Fundamental Engineering, AFCAT EKT Allied Engineering, AFCAT EKT Computer Science Engineering, AFCAT EKT Mechanical Engineering and AFCAT EKT Electrical & Electronics Engineering.

The AFCAT question paper includes questions from common topics such as Engineering Physics, Engineering Mathematics, and Engineering Drawing, Control Engineering, Telecommunication Systems, Electrical Engineering, Radar Theory, Instrumentation, Antenna, and Wave Propagation, and Microwave Engineering, Information Technology, Network Theory Design, Analog, and Digital Electronics, Computer Networks, Switching Theory, and Electronic Devices, Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics/Hydraulic Machines, Engineering Mechanics, Materials Science, Thermodynamics, Manufacturing Science, and Machine Drawing, Microwave Engineering, Analog, and Digital Electronics, Electronic Devices, Telecommunication Systems, Microwave Engineering, Control Engineering, and Electrical Engineering.

The AFCAT question paper has a total of 300 marks, and there are 100 questions in the question paper. The time duration given is 2 hours or 120 minutes. For every right answer, a candidate is given 3 marks and 1 mark is deducted for every wrong answer. The EKT exam has a total of 150 marks and there are 50 questions. The time duration given is 45 minutes.
