Common Entrance Exam
National Testing Agency (NTA) declares the date for conducting Sainik School Admission Exam i.e. the All India Sainik Schools Entrance Exam (AISSEE) 2022. The exam takes place to offer admissions to deserving young boys and girls into Sainik Schools across the nation. The students who pass the AISSEE exam get admissions in class VI and IX in All Sainik Schools. It is a national level exam which takes place every year. The idea of developing public schools for boys hailing from different backgrounds was conceived by the then Defence Minister Shri V.K. Krishna Menon in 1961.
Why Sainik School?
The sole purpose of these schools is to prepare cadets for the National Defence Academy (NDA) and Naval Academy (NA). In the year 2018, six girl cadets got admission in Sainik School Chhingchhip, Mizoram for the first time breaking this barrier for young girls. It was under a pilot project initiated by the Ministry of Defence. There are currently 33 Sainik Schools in India and all of them will give admission to girl cadets for the academic session 2022-23.
Admission Process
The admission procedure is the same for every school. Interested children have to fill the Sainik School admission form that comes out in the month of October and November every year. Then they have to take All Indian Sainik School Entrance Exam which takes place on the first Sunday of every January. However, this year due to the Covid 19 pandemic the the National Testing Agency conducted the AISSEE exam on the first Sunday of February.
The results are usually out in a month and are uploaded on the official website of National Testing Agency. The selected candidates then undergo a detailed medical test at the civil hospitals shortlisted by the respective schools. The school prepares the final merit lists on the basis of the marks in the written examination and medical fitness. It is then uploaded on the official websites of the respective schools. The academic session starts in the month of April of the corresponding year.
How to fill online application form
The steps to fill the application form are as follows
- Visit the Official website i.e. https://aissee.nta.nic.in
- On the Homepage, click on ‘Application Form AISSEE 2022’
- Apply for Online Registration using your Email ID and Mobile No.
- Fill in the Online Application Form and note down the system generated Application No.
- Then upload the photograph and documents.
- Pay the application fee online.
The following documents are required to fill the form: Scanned passport size photograph, Candidate’s signature, left-hand thumb impression, Date of Birth certificate, Domicile Certificate, Caste/ Community/ Category Certificate, Certificate of Service (for Defence Category- serving) and PPO (for ex-servicemen). The online form fee for candidates will be confirmed once official notification is released.
