Rashtriya Military Schools are the pioneer of class education and guidance for National Defence Academy (NDA) and Naval Academy (NA). These schools were initially established for the sons of defence personnel, but later civilian kids were also allowed to get admission in these prestigious schools. There are currently five Military schools in India, namely RMS Banglore, RMS Belgaum, RMS Chail, RMS Dholpur and RMS Ajmer. Rashtriya Military Schools give admissions to candidates eligible for class VI and IX through a Common Entrance Test (CET) and for class XI the admissions are based on the board result of class X. The Rashtriya Military School course for class VI and IX are different.
The Common Entrance Test (CET) for admission to Class VI & IX take place in December. The exam is based on automated OMR.
Class VI Rashtriya Military School course is of class V standard in subjects like Intelligence, General Knowledge, Mathematics & English.
Rashtriya Military School course for Class IX is based on class VIII standard in subjects of English, Hindi, Social Science, Mathematics & Science.
The Rashtriya Military School course for Class VI mathematics section consists of questions from Time and work, Percentages, Profit and Loss, Degree Fahrenheit, Arithmetic Mean etc. English section contains topics like Antonyms, Synonyms, Prepositions, Comprehension Passages etc. Then comes the Intelligence Test which has topics like Relationship, Relation of Analogy, Verbal and non-verbal, Image, Completion of Series etc. The General Knowledge and Current Affairs section topics such as History, Sports, Awards, Science and Health, Committee and Commission, States of India, Our Defense Forces, Capital and Currencies, National Park and Wild Life Sanctuaries in India, Important Dates and days, etc.
The Rashtriya Military School course for class IX consists of mathematics section includes topics such as Roman numeration and Rounding off numbers, Comparison of numbers, Greatest and smallest numbers, Unitary Method, Ratio and Proportion, Time, Work, etc. The language section of this exam has questions from Hindi as well as English. The topics included in the English section are Grammatical Structure, Comprehension & passages, Antonyms, Synonyms, Articles etc. The Hindi section includes भाषिक अनुप्रयोग और व्याकरणिक कुशलताए, लोकोक्ति, पद परिचय, पर्याय/विलोम, मुहावरा etc. The Science section consists of topics like Reproduction, Food, Chemical Effects of Electrical Current, Electroplating, Solar System, Natural Phenomena, Energy etc.
The Social Science section includes topics such as Modern Indian History, British Raj, Indian Independence, Tribals and Dikus, Women, Caste and Reform etc. Aspirants ought to score well to pass the Common Entrance Test. The questions will be based on automated Optical Mark Recognition (OMR). The candidates who pass the written exam then have to go through an interview containing a weightage of 50 marks for class IX and 20 for class IV, after which the final merit list will be made.
