Jawahar Navodaya Vidhyalaya – Brief Outline
The Jawahar Navodaya Vidhyalaya is once in a lifetime opportunity for all talented rural children. The Navodaya Samiti had to postpone the JNVST entrance exam 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The Samiti will soon release the new date for the entrance exam. The Navodaya School Entrance exam takes place to give admission to students who have passed 5th class and seeking admission in 6th.
JNVST Entrance Exam 2021 Eligibility Criteria
- Residence: The candidates who reside in the district where the Navodaya Vidyalaya has been opened are eligible to apply for JNVST.
- Age limit: Candidate applying for class 6 JNVST exam must be born between May 1, 2008, to April 30, 2012 (Both dates are inclusive). For Class 9, students must be of an age between 11 to 15 years on 1st May of the year of admission. Age relaxation is not provided for any reserved categories.
- Educational Qualifications: An aspirant applying for class 6 must be studying in class 5th during the academic session 2020-21 in a Government, Government aided or any recognized school. Candidates should have passed class 8th exam from a recognized government board to apply for JNVST class 9 entrance exam 2021.
- Aspirants passing the ‘B’ certificate competency course from the National Institute of Open Schooling on or before September 30, 2020, are also eligible.
- An aspirant must be promoted and admitted to class 5th before September 15, 2020, else he/she will not be able to fulfil the JNVST admission criteria.
- Candidate appeared in the JNVST exam earlier then he/she is not eligible to apply for the exam as any candidate is not allowed to appear for the second time.
JNVST Entrance Exam 2021 Eligibility Criteria for Rural Candidates
- A candidate applying for admission under the JNVST entrance exam 2021 rural quota must have studied in class 3rd and 4th and 5th from a Government, Government Aided or Government recognized school(s) situated in rural areas.
- A candidate must study in the 5th class from the district where Vidyalaya is situated.
- Candidates completing their studies under the schemes of NIOS should submit their rural status certificate issued by the District Magistrate, Tehsildar or Block Development Officer.
- At least 75% of the total seats of a district will be filled by candidates living in rural areas and the remaining seats will be filled by the urban area students of the same district.
JNVST Entrance Exam 2021 Eligibility Criteria for Urban Candidates
- An aspirant who have studied classes 3rd, 4th and 5th in a school located in the urban area for even a single day will be strictly considered as an urban candidate.
