About Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas
Navodaya Vidyalayas are unique educational institutions in India, providing quality education to students mainly from rural backgrounds. The Government of India started the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas as per the National Policy of Education (1986). The Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti manages and governs these schools. It is an autonomous organization functional under the Government of India. Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas are fully residential, co-educational schools affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi having classes up to 12 standard. At present, a total number of 661 Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas are operational across 27 states and 8 Union Territories of India. Admission to these Vidyalayas is through a test called JNVST.
