About the Indian Coast Guard

The Indian Coast Guard is an organization that conducts round-the-year real-life operations at sea. Though it is relatively small, it has a wide range of task capabilities for both surface and air operations. The organization is headed by the Director-General Indian Coast Guard (DGICG) exercising his overall command and superintendence from the Coast Guard Headquarters (CGHQ) located at New Delhi. The organization has announced Coast Guard Assistant Commandant vacancy to strengthen its forces.

The Indian Coast Guard has released a vacancy for the post of Assistant Commandant General Duty, General Duty (Pilot), General Duty (Women-SSA), Technical (Engineering and Electronics/Electrical), Commercial Pilot, and Law. These are posts of Group ‘A’ gazetted officers. It is once in a lifetime opportunity for all eligible candidates to secure a respectful career in the Indian Coast Guard.

Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria for the various posts are as follows:

•Should possess Commercial Pilot License

Technical (Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics) 01 Jul 1998 to 30 Jun 2002 Male •Engineering Degree in respective field with minimum 60% marks in aggregate

•Physics and Maths as subjects in XII with minimum 55% marks in each subject

Law entry 01 Jul 1993 to 30 Jun 2002 Male/

Female

•Degree in Law with minimum 60% marks in aggregate

 

How to apply?

The mode of submission of application is online only. The online application window is open from 16 February 2022 to 26 February 2022 till 1700 hours only. Candidates can apply using the official website of the Indian Coast Guard http://www.joinindiancoastguard.cdac.in

Documents to upload during online registration

Before submitting the online application, candidates need to keep the following documents scanned and ready for upload.

  1. Photograph (Name and date of the photograph should be clearly mentioned on it.
  2. Signature
  3. Left and right-hand thumb impression
  4. Date of birth certificate (10th class certificate or mark-sheet)
  5. ID proof (Aadhar card, Voter Id, Driving License, PAN Card, Passport)
  6. Category certificate
  7. Declaration by the candidate
  8. Service certificate or NOC, if applicable

Selection Procedure

The selection procedure is divided into five stages:

  1. Stage 1 – Screening Test: It is an online Computer Based Test of two hours duration. It consists of 100 multiple-choice questions. Each question carries four marks. Hence the total weightage of this exam is 400 marks. The medium of the paper is English only.
  2. Stage 2 – Preliminary Selection Board (PSB): After clearing Stage 1, candidates will be screened through the Computerised Cognitive Battery Test (CCBT) and Picture Perception &Discussion Test (PP&DT). The stage 2 exam is of a qualifying nature only.
  3. Stage 3 – Final Selection Board (FSB): Candidates shortlisted in stage 2, need to undergo Psychological Test, Group Task, and Interview (Personality test).
  4. Stage 4 – Medical Examination: After clearing stage 3, candidates need to go through a special medical examination. The Special Medical Board will test candidates for physical and medical fitness.
  5. Stage 5 – Induction: Candidates who clear stage 4 are selected for training and need to report at INA Ezhimala for Naval Orientation Course (NOC).
