About the Indian Air Force

Important Timelines

The online applications for Agniveer Vayu 01/2024 notification will start on 27 July 2023 for male and female candidates. Eligibility Criteria:

Age/Date of Birth Block:

Candidates born between 27/06/2003 to 27/12/2006 (both dates inclusive) are eligible to apply for Agniveer Vayu 01/2024 intake.

Marital Status:

Only unmarried Indian male and female candidates are eligible for enrolment as Agniveer Vayu in Indian Air Force.

Educational Qualification:

(a) Science subject:

1. Passed Intermediate/10+2/ Equivalent examination with Mathematics, Physics, and English from an Education Board listed as a Council of Boards for School Education (COBSE) member with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English.

OR

2. Passed Three years Diploma Course in Engineering (Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics / Automobile / Computer Science /Instrumentation Technology / Information Technology) from a Government recognized Polytechnic institute with 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English in diploma course (or in Intermediate/Matriculation, if English is not a subject in Diploma Course).

OR

3. Passed Two years Vocational course with non-vocational subjects viz. Physics and Mathematics from State Education Boards /Councils which are listed in COBSE with 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English in the vocational course (or in Intermediate /Matriculation, if English is not a subject in the vocational course).

(b) Other than Science subjects:

1. Passed Intermediate / 10+2 / Equivalent Examination in any subject approved by Central / State Education Boards listed as a Council of Boards for School Education (COBSE) member with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English.

OR

2. Passed two years’ vocational course from Education Boards listed as COBSE members with minimum 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English in vocational course (or in Intermediate / Matriculation if English is not a subject in Vocational Course).

Candidates who are eligible for the Science Subjects examination are also eligible for the Other than Science Subjects examination. They have the option to appear in both Science and Other than Science subjects examinations in one sitting while filling up the online registration form.

Medical Criteria

(a) Height: Minimum height required for male candidates is 152.5 cm and that for female candidates is 152 cm.
(b) Chest: For male candidates, the minimum chest should be 77 cm and the chest expansion should be at least 5 cm.
(c) Weight: Should be proportionate to height and age.

The selection process as per Agniveer Vayu 01/2024 Notification

The recruitment procedure consists of the following stages:

1. Online Test:

In the first step of the selection process, candidates need to appear in the online examination. For Science subjects, the total duration of the online exam is 60 minutes. The exam consists of questions from English, Physics, and Mathematics. The paper consists of 70 questions (Physics – 25, Maths – 25, and English – 20)

As far as other than Science subject is concerned, the total duration of the online exam is 45 minutes. The exam comprises questions from English, and RAGA (Reasoning and General Awareness). The paper consists of 50 questions (English – 20, Reasoning and General Awareness – 30).

For Science Subjects & Other Than Science Subjects, the total duration of the online exam is 85 minutes and consists of questions from English, Physics, Mathematics, and RAGA (Reasoning and General Awareness). The question paper consists of 100 questions (Physics – 25, Maths – 25, English – 20, and Reasoning and General Awareness – 30)

Candidates get 1 mark for every correct answer. For every wrong answer, the candidate loses a 0.25 mark.

2. Physical Fitness Test:

Candidates shortlisted after the written examination undergo a physical fitness test which consists of a 1.6 KM run within seven minutes (For male candidates) and Eight minutes (for female candidates). Male candidates need to complete 10 Push-ups, 10 Sit-ups, and 20 Squats within the stipulated time to clear the Physical Fitness Test. While female candidates need to complete 10 Sit-ups, and 15 Squats within the stipulated time to clear the Physical Fitness Test. 3. Adaptability Test- I:

All candidates who pass the Physical Fitness Test (PFT) will undergo Adaptability Test-I (objective type written test). The objective of this test is to assess the suitability of a candidate for employment in the IAF which involves deployment in varied geographic terrain, weather, and operational conditions.

4.  Adaptability Test- II:

All candidates who pass Adaptability Test-I will undergo Adaptability Test-II. The primary purpose of Adaptability Test-II is to select candidates who can adapt to the environment of the Indian Air Force and are able to adjust to the military way of life.

5. Medical Examination:

Candidates who clear the Adaptability Test-II shall undergo a medical examination at the designated Medical Boarding Centre (MBC) on a specified date.
