Captain Manoj Kumar Pandey U P Sainik School, Lucknow, and newly constructed U P Sainik School, Gorakhpur run under the aegis of UP Sainik Schools Society in the chairmanship of Chief
Minister of UP. The purpose of these special institutions of Govt of UP is to impart military-oriented training to prepare the selected students of Uttar Pradesh for a career in the officers’ cadre of the Indian Armed Forces through the National Defence Academy (NDA). Captain Manoj Kumar Pandey UP Sainik School, Lucknow, and Sainik School Gorakhpur are affiliated with the CBSE, New Delhi. Both are English-medium residential schools. Eligibility in UP Sainik School Notification 2025-26

For admission to UP Sainik School, candidates must fulfill the following eligibility criteria:

(i)Domicile: The applicant and Father of the applicant must be a domicile of UP.

(ii)Date of Birth: UP Sainik School invites applications from applicants born between the dates given for the academic session 2025-26, for appearing in Captain Manoj Kumar Pandey UP Sainik School and Sainik School, Gorakhpur Entrance Examination scheduled on 29 Dec 2024:-
(a) For Class VI: 02 July 2013 to 01 January 2016 (both dates inclusive)
(b) For Class IX: 02 July 2010 to 01 January 2013 (both dates inclusive)
(iii) Applicants can appear in the exam as per the following details:
UP Sainik School, Lucknow – Class 6 (Only Boys are eligible), Class 9 (Boys & Girls both are eligible)
UP Sainik School, Gorakhpur – Class 6 (Boys & Girls both are eligible), Class 9 (Boys & Girls both are eligible)
(iv) Must have passed classes V and VIII for admission in class VI and IX respectively by 20 May 2025 from a recognized school.

Reservation of Seats:

Out of the total vacancies, 27 % of the seats are reserved for OBC, 21 % for SC, 02% for ST, and 10 % for EWS-GEN category. There is only SELF FINANCE SEAT for Class IX Boys’ applicant for UP Sainik School, Lucknow. Vimukt Jati is not considered in the ST category.

Important Timelines Related to UP Sainik School Notification 2025-26

The dates to remember are:

Application Fee

The application fee is Rs. 1000 (without late fee) till 25 October 2024. The fee payable after the last date is Rs. 2000 (including the late fee) till 05 November 2024.

School Fee

The normal school fee is Rupees 50,000/- per annum (excluding other miscellaneous charges). Enhancement in fee is expected.

Examination Centres

Agra, Ayodhya, Bareilly, Ghaziabad, Gorakhpur, Jhansi, Meerut, Prayagraj, Varanasi and Lucknow. The applicant appearing for the examination may opt for a maximum of three centers, out of which one may be granted by the school administration.

Steps to Submit Online Application

Before starting to submit the online application, candidates must ensure a valid e-mail ID and mobile number. The steps to submit the online application are:

• STEP 1: ONLINE REGISTRATION – On successful registration, the Applicant will get the Username and password for logging into their dashboard for further steps.
• STEP 2: APPLICATION FORM – Fill the Application Form. Candidates must fill and select all fields very carefully. Fields having * marks are mandatory. Applicant can edit his/her application any number of times before the successful payment.
• STEP 3: ONLINE PAYMENT – Make Payment. Please recheck your Application form details carefully because, after Fee payment, the applicant can’t edit his/her application form in any way.
• STEP 4: PRINT APPLICATION FORM – Applicant must take the printout of the application form and keep it safe for future reference.
• STEP 5: CORRECTION WINDOW – The correction window will open from 08 Nov 2024 to 10 Nov 2024 (1700 Hrs). Applicants can edit the details in the Application form except Name, Class, Mobile No, and E-mail ID.
• STEP 6: PRINT ADMIT CARD – Candidates can download their Admit Card after 05 Dec 2024.
• STEP 7: RESULTS – Applicants can check their Entrance Exam Results.Documents required at the time of the interview

Candidates need to bring the following documents/certificates in original and one photocopy for verification at the time of the Interview:

1. Domicile certificate of applicant issued by the Competent Authority.
2. The caste certificate of the applicant (SC/ST/OBC/EWS-GEN) issued by the competent authority.
3. Birth Certificate of applicant issued by competent authority.

Documents required at the time of admission

Candidates need to submit the following documents/certificates at the time of ADMISSION:

1. Transfer Certificate from the school last attended duly countersigned by the competent authority in original with PEN (Permanent Education Number).
2. Domicile certificate of applicant issued by the competent authority in original and selfattested copy.
3. Caste certificate of the applicant (SC/ST/OBC/EWS-GEN) issued by the competent authority in original and self-attested copy.
4. Agreement bond on Rs.100/- non-judicial stamp.
5. Indemnity bond on Rs.50/- non-judicial stamp.
6. Affidavit on Rs.10/- non-judicial stamp.
7. Birth Certificate of applicant issued by Nagar Nigam/Nagar Palika/Zila Panchayat Adhikari in original and self-attested copy.
8. Self-attested copy of the Aadhaar Card of the applicant.
9. Original Mark sheet of class V and VIII for admission in class VI and IX respectively.

About UP Sainik School

Sainik School, Lucknow was established in July 1960.  It was the first Sainik School in India. Later, other Sainik Schools were established under the Ministry of Defence, Government of India. Captain Manoj Kumar Pandey UP Sainik School is a co-educational school affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). The UP Sainik School Society manages and administers this institution. From the academic session 2024-25, UP Sainik School, Gorakhpur has also started functioning. Hence, there is a better opportunity for students to secure their seats in one of the two schools. These schools are fully financed and managed by the State Government.

History of UP Sainik School

Much before anyone in the country thought of setting up an institution as a pre-preparation for the National Defence Academy, Dr Sampurnanand, the then Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, had the vision of conceiving the idea. He observed that Uttar Pradesh, the most populous State of the Union, had a very poor representation in the officers’ cadre of the Armed forces. Thus, as a pioneer and a visionary leader, he established a school in Lucknow as early as 1960 to train selected state students for a career in the Officers’ cadre of the Defence Force of India through the National Defence Academy. Dr. Sampurnanand established Sainik School, Lucknow in July 1960 to fulfill his vision. The alumni of Sainik School, Lucknow Capt Manoj Pandey posthumously received the Param Vir Chakra. The school is now named Capt Manoj Kumar Pandey UP Sainik School.
