Sainik Schools are known as the gateway to the National Defence Academy (NDA) and Naval Academy (NA). These schools were established to demolish imbalance prevailing in the officer cadre. Every Year thousands of young boys and girls try their luck for a settled future. The Sainik School Society conducts an All India Sainik School Entrance Exam (AISSEE) every year for class VI and IX. The Entrance Exam Pattern of Sainik Schools is a must to know before applying for the same. The Admission forms are generally out in the month October or November and the exam takes place on the first Sunday of January. Due to Covid 19 pandemic this year the exam will take place on the first Sunday of February i.e. February 7, 2021.

To crack this exam knowledge of its pattern is a must. The Entrance Exam Pattern of Sainik Schools for class VI consists of one paper having 125 questions from different subjects. 50 questions are asked from Mathematics, 25 from General Knowledge, then comes the language section where the student has to answer 25 questions from either Hindi or English section, 25 question fall in the Intelligence section which is similar to reasoning. The time duration for the exam is 2 hours 30 minutes. Each question from the Mathematics section contains 3 marks and questions from the other three sections contain 2 marks each making it a total of 300 marks.

AISSEE exam or The Entrance Exam Pattern of Sainik Schools for class IX also consists of one paper, containing five sections.

Section ‘A’ mathematics has 50 questions of 4 marks each, section ‘B’ English, section ‘C’ General Science, section ‘D’ Social Studies and section ‘E’ Intelligence contains 25 marks each with 2 marks per question making it a total of 400 marks. The total time duration for the paper is 3 hours.

The Mathematics Section in the AISSEE exam for class VI contains questions from Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, fractions and decimals, BODMAS Rule, LCM and HCF, Average, Percentage, Profit and loss, Ratio and Proportion, etc. English section contains Tenses Sentences -Negative, Articles, One Word answers/fill in the blanks, Singular & Plural forms, Synonyms & Antonyms, Spelling, and Jumbled words. Apart from these, the question paper has questions from reasoning, general knowledge, and current affairs. Class IX question paper contains topics like Squares and Square Roots, Cubes and Cube Roots, LCM and HCF, Rational Exponents and Radicals, Profit, Loss, and Discount, in maths. English section contains topics like Spotting Errors, Clauses, Active and Passive Voice, Reported Speech, Prepositions, Tenses, Articles, Antonyms, and Synonyms, Rearrange jumbled words into sentences, etc.

General Science Section contains topics like The Universe, Soil & Air, Structure of Atom, Metals and non-metals, Carbon, Cell structure and its functions, Microorganisms, Refraction of light, Electricity and Magnetism, Sources of Energy, Common Diseases, Food production and management.

The Social Studies Section contains India and the Modern world, India in the 18th century, The British Rule in India, Policies and impact of British rule, Revolt against British rule, the British administration in India after 1857, Changes in Economic life etc. The exam is conducted by the National Testing Agency. The results are usually out in a month and are uploaded on the official website of National Testing Agency. The selected candidates then undergo a detailed medical test at the civil hospitals shortlisted by the respective schools. Based on the marks in the written examination and medical fitness, the final merit lists are prepared by the schools and then they get uploaded on the official websites of the respective schools. The academic session starts in the month of April of the corresponding year.
