Selection Procedure
The Indian army Clerk’s open rallies take place in four phases, namely, online registration, Physical Fitness Test, Medical Test, and Written Exam also known as the Common Entrance Examination (CEE). If a candidate manages to pass all these phases he gets a job in the Indian Army as a Soldier, Clerk. To submit the online application, a candidate needs to register on the official website of the Indian Army https://joinindianarmy.nic.in/Authentication.aspx
After online registration, candidates need to undergo the Physical Fitness Test (PFT). To appear for PFT, admit cards are sent to the registered e-mail id of the candidates. The Physical Fitness Test (PFT) takes place in three phases- 1.6 km or 1600 m run, at least 6 push-ups to pass the test, 9 feet ditch, and zig-zag balance. 9 feet ditch and zig-zag balance are tests of qualifying nature. No marks are allotted for these tests. The medical test is one of the most important tests that judge the physical and mental fitness of the candidate and his suitability to serve the country. He must have a robust body free from any kind of illness such as bone deficiency, hearing, speaking, and viewing disability. Urine examination also takes place in the medical test. A candidate’s teeth should also be in good condition.
After approximately 45-50 days of the Medical tests, a candidate has to sit for the written examination which is the final phase of the recruitment process. The written examination is called the Common Entrance Exam (CEE) and it is an objective type question paper. It is a bilingual paper that is framed in both Hindi and English language. Each question carries 4 marks. The total weightage of the exam is 200 marks. There is a negative marking of 1 mark for every wrong answer given by the candidate.
Scheme of Examination
The Army Clerk exam consists of questions from English, Mathematics, General Knowledge, General Science, and Computer. The exam comprises a total of 50 questions and a candidate should score at least 160-170 marks to pass the exam. One important point to note here is that the final merit is based on marks scored in the written examination only. Marks scored in the physical test are not counted towards final merit. Hence, the final weightage of the Common Entrance Examination is 200 marks. The detailed pattern of examination is as follows:
