About BSF

The Border Security Force(BSF) is India’s border guarding organization on its border with Pakistan and Bangladesh. It is one of the five Central Armed Police Forces of India. It was raised on 1 December 1965 in the wake of the 1965 War “for ensuring the security of the borders of India”. To strengthen its forces, BSF has issued notification for the BSF Constable Tradesman vacancy.

About BSF Tradesman Vacancy

BSF has recently announced a recruitment drive for the post of Constable (Tradesman) for male and female candidates. There are 2788 vacancies (2651 – for male candidates, 137 – for female candidates) in all. Eligibility Criteria

Age – Between 18 to 23 years as of 01.08.2021 (Relaxation applicable as per norms)

Education Qualification: 

The candidate should have passed Matric/10th/Secondary from a recognized board

AND 

The candidate should possess two years of work experience in the respective trade

OR

One year certificate course from ITI with at least one year experience in the trade

OR

Two years Diploma from ITI in the trade or similar trade.

Physical Standards

a) For male candidates:

The minimum height required is 167.5 cm. The chest required is 78-83 cm. Relaxations are applicable as per norms. The weight of the candidate should be proportionate to height.

b) For female candidates:

The minimum height required is 157 cm. Relaxations are applicable as per norms.

Important Timelines

Online registrations are open from 16 January 2022 and the online application window will close on 01 March 2022. Candidates can apply online on the official website of BSF  https://rectt.bsf.gov.in

Documents to upload at the time of online registration:

Students need to keep the following documents handy at the time of online registration. These will be uploaded during the registration process.

1. 10th Pass certificate (to prove education & date of birth)
2. Two years work experience in respective trade
3. Domicile certificate of respective state
4. Caste certificate (if applicable)
5. Relaxation certificate (if applicable).

Method of Selection for BSF Constable Tradesman Vacancy

The BSF Constable Tradesman recruitment drive consists of the following stages:

1. PST and PET (Qualifying nature) – Candidates first need to undergo the Physical Standard Test and the Physical Efficiency Test. The first step is to check the candidate for height. After qualifying in height, he/she needs to clear the prescribed run in the allotted time.

2. Trade Test (Qualifying nature) – After clearing Stage 1, candidates need to undergo the Trade Test. This tests the candidates’ skills in the trade that he has applied for.
3. Written exam – Now the candidate needs to appear for a written examination. It is a two-hour duration exam consisting of 100 questions.
4. Medical examination – On qualifying, PST/PET, Trade Test, Documentation, Written Examination, the candidate goes through a detailed medical examination. The objective is to assess his/her physical and mental fitness. The last step is to release the final meit list.
