Common Mistakes in AISSEE (During Examination)
Students, as human beings, are prone to making mistakes. But, they should try to avoid these mistakes in order to clear the exam with flying colors and secure a seat for themselves in Sainik School. The common mistakes committed by students during exams are:
- Panicking – This is the biggest mistake that students commit. Panic is not a solution to any problem. Don’t panic, stay calm, and remain composed throughout the duration of the examination.
- Running out of time – Manage your time well. Don’t stick to a single question for a long time. If you are unable to solve the question in two attempts, skip it and move on to the next question. You must practice finishing the paper in the stipulated time. Should not leave any questions because of a shortage of time.
- Misunderstanding the question – Read the question very carefully t properly understand what is asked. Focus on negatives in the question like NOT that change the entire meaning of the sentence.
- Not reading the question correctly – Sometimes students don’t read the question carefully or read incomplete questions in a hurry. This leads to marking the wrong answers in the answer sheet.
- Mistake in filling the OMR sheet – Be very careful in filling the OMR sheet. What you do in the stipulated time is reflected in the OMR sheet. Your result depends on how correctly you fill the OMR sheet. Don’t leave this task for the last moment. Fill the OMR sheet hand to hand or at least every 5 questions.
- Leaving the easiest questions until last – Attempt easy questions first. It will build your confidence.
- Leaving the exam room early – Spend full time in the examination hall. Sometimes it happens that you are able to recall things on the second attempt which you were not able to recall earlier.
- Not sparing enough time for revision – Plan your time well so that you spare enough time for revision, checking the OMR sheet and attempting questions that you skipped on the first attempt.
Common Mistakes in AISSEE (In Lead-up to Exam)
Besides mistakes in the examination hall, candidates also commit some mistakes while they prepare for the examination. Some common mistakes that students commit in the lead-up to the exam are:
- Not knowing what you are aiming for – Plan your target, be sure of what you want to achieve, and plan your studies accordingly.
- Not having a plan – Any effort without a proper plan is a waste of effort. Devise a proper plan and strategy for studying like timing, topics to cover, how much time for each topic, etc. These have to be worked out well in advance.
- Memorizing, rather than understanding – Don’t just focus on mugging up. Understand the concept well. This will help you in better retention in the future.
- Not getting enough sleep – Take sufficient sleep, and give your body enough rest so that you always stay fresh and focused.
- Not giving mock tests – The best way to prepare well is to attempt a lot of mock tests. The result of the mock test will give you a good idea about where you stand and what action plan you need to improve yourselves.
- Not knowing the syllabus and exam pattern properly – Take note of the syllabus and understand the exam pattern. This will give you insight into what topics to study and help to concentrate on your study rather than studying topics that are not part of the syllabus and level of examination.
- Sticking on some topics – Don’t stick to a limited number of topics. Study the entire syllabus as you have to clear the sectional cut-off.
- Studying continuously – Don’t study for long hours at a stretch. Take short breaks so that you are rejuvenated and able to concentrate better.
- Not using quick learning methods – Use short tricks to learn, understand, and memorize the concepts and formulas strongly.
