About RIMC

The Rashtriya Indian Military College (RIMC), is an Inter-Service Category ‘A’ establishment, administered through the Army Training Command (ARTRAC) under the aegis of the Ministry of Defence (MoD). It was inaugurated on 13 March 1922 by Prince Edward VIII, the Prince of Wales. It is located on 138 acres of lush green campus, adjacent to Garhi Village in Dehradun Cantonment. RIMC has released admission notification for admission to July 2023 term. The examination is scheduled on 03 December 2022. RIMC has produced many civil and military leaders of society. These include four Chiefs of Army Staff and two Chiefs of the Air staff in India; one Commander-in-Chief of the Army and two Chiefs of the Air Staff in Pakistan. The Rashtriya Indian Military College is a feeder for institutions like National Defence Academy, Khadakvasla, Officers’ Training Academy, Chennai, and Indian Military Academy, Dehradun. The College provides Public School education to young boys and girls in the age group of 11½ to 18 years. They are selected through an All India Entrance Examination.

Eligibility Criteria for RIMC December 2022 Exam

To apply for the RIMC entrance exam for July 2023 term, the candidates must fulfill the following eligibility conditions:

Educational Qualification: The candidate should either be studying in Class VII or passed Class VII from any recognized school at the time of admission to the RIMC, i.e. on 01 Jul 2023.

Age: Boys and Girls both are eligible to apply for admission to the RIMC, Dehradun. The candidate should be in the age bracket of 11½ to 13 years as on 01 Jul 2023, i.e., they should not be born earlier than 02 Jul 2010 and not later than 01 Jan 2012.

Schedule of Examination

The admission process consists of the following steps:

1. Written Examination: The examination is scheduled for Saturday, 03 December 2022 as per the following schedule:

2. Viva Voce: Candidates who clear the written examination will appear for the viva-voce. The viva-voce is designed to test the intelligence, personality, and communication skills of candidates.

3. Medical Examination: Candidates who clear the viva voce will undergo a medical examination at selected Military Hospitals and candidates who are declared medically fit will be considered for selection and admission to RIMC.

How to apply?

Candidates can obtain the prospectus cum application form and booklet of old question papers from RIMC, Dehradun by the following methods:

a) Online payment: Candidates can obtain the prospectus cum application form and booklet of old question papers by making an online payment of Rs. 600/- for general candidates and Rs. 555/- for SC/ST candidates. To make payment, use the RIMC website http://www.rimc.gov.in

b) By sending a demand draft: Candidates can obtain the prospectus cum application form and booklet of old question papers by sending a written request with a demand draft of Rs. 600/- for general candidates and Rs. 555/- for SC/ST candidates along with caste certificate. The draft should be in favor of “THE COMMANDANT RIMC DEHRADUN”, DRAWEE BRANCH, STATE BANK OF INDIA, TEL BHAVAN, DEHRADUN, (BANK CODE-01576), UTTARAKHAND.

The application form should reach the respective State Governments latest by 15 October 2022. The application form should not be sent to Rashtriya Indian Military College, Dehradun.

Documents Required

Candidates must attach the following documents with their application form:

1. Birth certificate issued by Municipal Corporation or Gram Panchayat
2. Domicile certificate
3. SC.ST certificate if applicable
4. A certificate from the Principal of the current school where the candidate is studying, stating the date of birth of the candidate as per the school records and the class in which he/she is studying. The certificate must have an attested photograph of the candidate.
5. Aadhar card (both sides)
6. Two passport-size photographs
