Sainik School Admission Process

Admission to Sainik School takes place through an entrance examination called the All India Sainik School Entrance Examination (AISSEE). The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts this entrance exam. The applications for AISSEE are submitted online using the official website of NTA https://aissee.nta.nic.in/

The NTA releases the notification for the exam in September and conducts the examination in the month of January every year. After the written examination, the NTA declares the answer key of the written exam. Children get a chance to challenge this answer key before the prescribed date if they think any of the answers are incorrect. If any answer is wrong, the NTA updates the answer key and finalizes it. The NTA uses the final answer key to check the OMR sheet of the candidate. NTA also uploads scanned copies of the OMR sheets marked by students.

After the declaration of the result of the written examination, the NTA releases the final merit list for each Sainik School and each category. Shortlisted candidates need to undergo a detailed medical examination. Students who clear the medical examination have to go through the document verification stage. After the documents are verified, the last step is to pay the fees. The final step of the Sainik School admission process is the payment of fees.

Reservation of Seats

  • 67% of the total seats are reserved for candidates domiciled in the State/ UT where the Sainik School is located.
