Composition of JNV selection test
The JNV entrance test for class 6 consists of three sections:
- Mental Ability Test (40 questions)
- Arithmetic Test (20 questions)
- Language Test (20 questions)
It is a two-hour duration test consisting of 80 questions. The maximum marks for the examination are 100.
About the JNV Entrance Test for Class 6
Section 1 – Mental Ability Section
In this section, questions are based on figures and diagrams. The basic aim of this section is to judge the general mental functioning of candidates. It consists of 10 types of questions. They are
- Part 1 (Odd Man Out)
- Part 2 (Figure Matching)
- Part 3 (Pattern Completion)
- Part 4 (Figure Series Completion)
- Part 5 (Analogy)
- Part 6 (Geometrical Figure Completion – Triangle, Square, Circle)
- Part 7 (Mirror Imaging)
- Part 8 – Punched Hole Pattern (Folding/Unfolding)
- Part 9 – Space Visualization
- Part 10 – Embedded Figure
Section 2 – Arithmetic Test
The basic aim of this section is to judge the candidate’s basic abilities in Arithmetic. The questions in this section are asked from the following topics:
- Number and numeric system.
- Four fundamental operations on whole number.
- Fractional numbers and four fundamental operations on them.
- Factors and multiples including their properties.
- LCM and HCF of numbers.
- Decimals and fundamental operations on them.
- Conversion of fractions to decimals and vice-versa.
- Measurement of length, mass, capacity, time, money, etc.
- Distance, time, and speed.
- Approximation of expressions.
- Simplification of Numerical Expressions,
- Percentage and its applications.
- Profit and loss.
- Simple interest.
- Perimeter, area, and volume.
The questions from the above topics are used to judge the following skills and abilities of students:
- Test of understanding
- Test of application
Section 3 – Language Test
The main objective of this section is to evaluate the reading comprehension skills of the candidates. The test comprises four passages. Each passage is followed by 5 questions. Candidates need to read each passage carefully and answer the questions that follow.
